Current production vehicles are typically equipped with paper filters, while performance vehicles used oil-soaked cotton or sponge. An air filter job is to guarantee good air flow while preventing significant particles from ending up in the engine. These two operations naturally oppose each other as an air filter needs to optimize the air flow and the level of filtering
Standard bikes are normally equipped with paper filters while for sports filters the usual solution was to use cotton soaked in oil. SPRINT FILTER, with the adoption of the polyester filtering fabric, takes a leap forward and makes all previous systems obsolete.

The polyester air filter ensures a very high air passage, which cannot be paired either by cotton filters (whose permeability depends on the number of layers used), nor by the original equipment paper filters. Let's remember the simple equation: more Air = more Power!
The construction precision of the polyester filter allows to have a filtration degree equal to the declared one and constant over time. The cotton filter, on the other hand, is characterized by extremely variable openings, from a few microns to several tenths. This means that initially the cotton filter has a low filtering power (equal to 50% of a contaminant with a range from 5 to 200 µ). Only after the formation of a dust-cake on the surface, the filtering power increase up to 80%, but a drastic pressure drop follows. In summary, for 50% of its life, the cotton filter has a low filtering power while for the following operating time there’s very high pressure drop.
The polyester fabrics are extremely permeable, stable and are not affected by folding during construction or during maintenance. Cotton or sponge air filters, on the other hand, have a weaving that depends on the overlapping of numerous layers and it's easilly foldable, leading to poor flow in some areas and ineffective filtration in others.
Filtration degree 80 microns, with guaranteed air passage of 5000 l/m²sec: these values make the P08 a very versatile and efficient filter, suitable for road use but with outstanding performance characteristics: bench tests of a 1,000 cc 4 cylinders motorcycle without ECU remapping, found 2.5 HP more in the middle of the power curve.
