TOURANCE NEXT 2, the new reference for the big road enduros, new trail sizes for SPORTEC M9RR, new front and rear specifics for the MCE 6 DAYS EXTREME, especially developed for enduro and extreme enduro, the new “R” specific for the racing motocross MC360 and the new evolutions for the RACETEC SM line-up, the choice product for Supermoto competitions, are the many new products for Metzeler in 2021.
The german brand unveils the new Tourance Next 2, the fourth generation of the acclaimed Tourance line-up, born thanks to the synthesis of the latest technologies for materials and processes for the two wheels specialist, and designed for the latest generation of adventure bikes. Tourance Next 2 is the ideal choice for big road enduro owners, for long-range touring but also for the weekend ride, alone or two-up, even at full load, that want an aggressive, off-road inspired tread design, but also an exhaustive synthesis of first-class road performance, duration and riding comfort. Even daily commuters can appreciate the sensation of safety that Tourance Next can offer on different surfaces, even in wet conditions. Next 2 betters its predecessor in all areas; the top aspects are the neutrality both in turn-in and leaning, and the sensation of safety supported by a relevant reduction of braking distances.
Main benefits of Tourance Next 2 include a neutral, agile behavior, especially on latest-generation vehicles, more performant and supported by advanced electronics systems; leading performances on wet surfaces with better stopping performances than the previous Tourance Next, even at low ambient temperatures thanks to latest-generation compounds and the innovative Metzeler Hyperbase laying process. Benefits also include a fast warm-up and a regular consumption for all the life of the tire, thanks to a Metzeler Dymatec-based tread design, a project methodology that combines functional characteristics for the tread design and the wear uniformity in typical use conditions for the segment.
Most of the radial Tourance Next 2 line-up benefits from Metzeler 0° steel radial and Interact technologies, that ensure to riders with possibly very different riding styles a neutral, gradual response, and transmit a safe and controlled feedback. The tread design maintains the distinctive elements from the Metzeler family, and implements innovative technical solutions to promote performance consistency. The longitudinal treads on the rear are interrupted on intersections with other treads to enhance compound stability and ensure wear uniformity, thus benefitting mileage maintaining directionality on dirt roads. Finally, the tread geometry, designed by Dymatec methodology, optimizes wear consistency and the functional contribution of the tread at any lean angle.
The front surface is made by an innovative hi-silica (85%) compound containing functionalized polymers that enhance wet grip characteristics and stability. The tread on the rear tire is multi-compound, and depending on size can sport a CAP&BASE structure (the central compound extends under the side tire compound) or the new Metzeler Hyperbase scheme (central and side compound are supported by a dynamic and thermal stability-oriented full-carbon-black base). The central section replicates the front tire compound, while the sides are full-silica to enhance grip when wet and leaned over.
The Sportec M9RR, introduced at the beginning of 2020, is the latest supersport Metzeler tire. Now the line-up includes a 120/70 R 19 60V front and a 170/60 R 17 rear to equip the latest and more popular adventure bikes that will benefit from unheard-of performances in sport riding.
MCE 6 Days Extreme can boast a great track record in enduro competitions - 40 FIM Enduro World Championship titles and many technical partnerships in relevant events such as the ISDE 6 Days or the Red Bull Romaniacs. The new MCE 6 Days Extreme include many novelties, such as many new specifics for front and rear, expecially developed for extreme enduro, easily recognizable by the colored lines on the tread surface - orange for soft, green for supersoft.
MC 360 is the off-road Metzeler tire destined to amateur and professional offroad disciplines - motocross, supercross, cross-country and freestyle. Since its introduction - with an adventure-rich record ascent to the Nevado Ojos del Salado, the world’s highest volcano situated between Argentina and Chile, MC 360 has its winning weapon in the versatility. Starting May 2021, the motocross sizes will also be available in the new “R” specific, developed specifically for racing. On this sizes Metzeler introduces new, innovative compounds for structure and tread to ensure world-class performances. The “R” specific MC360 will be available only in NHS version.
Racetec SM is the racing Metzeler tire for Supermoto, sporting the 2020 European Supermoto title with Diego Monticelli on the new 16,5” size for the front. Racetec SM offers both 16” and 17” fronts, and the classic 17” at the rear. All sizes are available on the typical Metzeler compounds: the Supersoft K0, the Soft K1 and the Medium K2, all hi-silica for a faster warmup and a perfect cleaning after the dirt sections. All the line-up is updated for 2021, both in terms of compounds and sizes.
