The closing remarks from a highly satisfied President, Pietro Meda
Another highly successful edition for the World Champion Show. Looking back, we’ve come a long way. Looking ahead, there is still so much more ground to cover
EICMA, November 8th. EICMA’s President is satisfied. Serenely satisfied. Because this has been a very serene, calm, and sober edition of EICMA—sober in the sense, if you will, of being immensely powerful and overwhelming (making any frenzy quite pointless). Pietro Meda looks back on the path traveled over these years, through the devastating crisis of the pandemic, from EICMA's rebirth to its courageous relaunch, and its sudden, "eye-opening" success. Yes, because we truly found ourselves in one of those situations where it was impossible to know which way was the right path.
Viewing the gamble as a commitment to the community of enthusiasts turns courage and daring into an inevitable, magical state of mind and heart. The alternative was to give up. And so, Pietro Meda's thoughts turn to the Team. What is the secret of this handful of men? Friendship, which was already there; a shared passion for Motorcycles, which was also already there and had actually been the catalyst for that friendship; and a spontaneous synergy—a mood that quickens the pace and multiplies resources rather than merely adding them up.
Within this "secret" lies EICMA’s multi-directional evolution. An exhibition that was originally just a showcase has transformed into an event, thanks to the "seeding" of the outdoor area with races, shows, and demo rides. EICMA has become a continuous phenomenon, adding other events scattered throughout the year that separates one edition of the "Milan Motorcycle Show" from the next. EICMA has taken the field alongside the Italian Motorcycle Federation and joined ICE's mission to internationalize "Made in Italy," becoming the striker of the Italian motorcycle's attacking trio.
These thoughts drift in as the last visitors leave the halls, the gates begin to close, and the lights start to fade. It is a moment to relax and rest, after months in which the adrenaline of doing well—and doing better—completely vaporized sleep and fatigue. But hey, wake up! It’s only a brief moment, because we are already caught up in the whirlwind of EICMA 2027.
Goodbye, and thank you for proving us right!
