Security in the city: what do its protagonists think?
Mobility in our cities is changing, but how? What is the direction? And is there a safety issue? We talked about it with an expert motorist, an expert cyclist, an expert urban planner and we also asked those who administer the city
We are living in a time of great transformations as far as transport is concerned. On the one hand, we are dealing with the energy transition, which certainly involves changes in habits. On the other hand, even in our cities we are all, willingly or unwillingly, protagonists of a mode transition that leads us to use cars less and less, or at least more and more responsibly, and to favour lighter forms of mobility.
But what exactly is the direction of these urban changes and how do they impact our daily lives? And why is there the impression that in recent times there is more and more of a clash between those who use one means of transport rather than another? And, on top of all this, there is the issue of safety, with the number of victims showing no signs of decreasing, on the contrary.
To understand how the various categories deal with this moment with an eye to the future, we involved our colleague Carlo Bellati of Automoto.it, doyen of motoring journalism, and Pietro Franzese, a young pedal storyteller who on his social networks recounts not only the daily life of a cyclist in Milan but also that of a cyclist abroad, since he is a lover of long journeys. They are joined by the authoritative voice of Giacomo Biraghi, urban planner .
Last but not least, the intervention of the Councillor for Mobility of the Municipality of Milan, Arianna Censi, who answered our questions.
