Nico's stories - Pierfrancesco Chili: "I'm quite well, but I don't like to remember the Misano victory in the 500"
Pierfrancesco has been living with Parkinson's disease for years: it is his most important race and he is winning it. He won the GP of Nations with the Honda 500 in '89, on a wet track contested and deserted by the big names. But he boasts many more crystalline successes in 250 and especially in SBK
The former Bologna racer, 59 years old and with three children, is now a tourist operator, with the 'Romina' baths (named after his wife) on the Misano Adriatico lido and flats for tourists. Many remember him well, he is among the SBK legends with seventeen victories and, before the derivatives and winning the European 125 in 1985, he raced the world championship in the 500 class winning the turbulent GP of Nations at Misano in '89, and then in the 250 class with four fine victories riding an Aprilia.
For some years now Pierfrancesco has been fighting against illness, against Parkinson's disease; but as you can see he is in good shape, brilliant in his recollections and analyses. We wanted to involve him in our Motofestival because, despite the years that have passed, PF Chili's name remains among the best-loved among motorbike enthusiasts. And for all of them we wanted to ask him: how are you?
