Nicolò Bulega, fighting to the end
Nicolò Bulega was, along with Toprak Razgatlioglu, the star of the 2024 WorldSBK season, proving to be the Turk's only real opponent in the title fight
It was a great season for Nicolò Bulega, considering that he was making his debut in the category. A surprise for everyone but not for him, who in tests carried out first during the 2023 season and later in the winter tests, had realised that he could be very fast with the Panigale V4.
Aside from the victories and podiums he achieved, the most important result was that he continued to mature and grow, until he was able to fight elbow to elbow with Toprak, even managing to beat him. A very important factor especially in view of 2025.
Nicolò has settled in very well in the paddock of the derivatives, an environment that he himself defines as easy and familiar, but he still hangs out with his friends and former rivals from the MotoGP world, with whom he plays online at Playstation. ‘No no motorbikes, those I prefer to ride for real, with them we play Call of Duty’. And speaking of friends, Bulega confides that he believes in friendship: ‘I give real friends a lot, but I also ask a lot.
He also often talks to the guys from the VR46 Academy, of which he was a member for a few years. ‘We parted without any problems. We didn't achieve the results we hoped for and decided to go our separate ways'.
And speaking of VR46, it seems that Nicolò was the first choice to replace the injured Fabio Di Giannantonio, but he preferred to give up. ‘Racing in MotoGP without a test, without knowing the bike or even the team would have made no sense,’ he confided, ’but Iannone did well to accept. I am convinced that he is really happy to be back in MotoGP.
