Nico Cereghini recounts: how motorbike tests on TV worked
From those made with riders Orioli, Cadalora, Gresini to the test of the legendary Yamaha 500 world champion
From the iconic music of Grand Prix to the tale of a whole day to shoot a test or even the 'super test'. Nico retraces the story of his life, as far as motorbike tests are concerned.
Obviously there is the tale of the famous slogan that still characterises him today: 'Helmet, on, nice and fastened! Lights, on, even during the day! And caution... always!"
Nico told about the people I worked with, the most famous trials, the ones that were less easy and suffered, the winter trials with the frost in January and February. There were a few accidents, fortunately few, and only one on the track, in the legendary Laguna Seca.
And again the dune with Edi Orioli, the popularity in the 1990s, the stand-ins he used for off-road racing: Eliano Riva, Valerio Da Lio who later founded Ohvale, Roberto Ungaro who raced in enduro, was a commercial agent in the Oltrepò Pavese, an honourable job but wanted to work with motorbikes.
The most famous riders who flanked him in the trials: Cadalora with the perforated leather suit on the Apennines and the CBR 600 in the snow and only three clean corners, Gianola and Gresini on the road with the Garelli 125s, Gramigni at Varano when I taught him how to put his hand on the ground when leaning, Orioli and the jumps with the Africa Twin and the dune that was then on the Po, Picco 'frank dealer', De Petri who goes crazy with the Yamaha Tenerè and flies into the lake, others.
