Nico Cereghini, a life in the saddle
In a chat with René Pierotti, journalist and former rider Nico Cereghini tells us about the most intense moments of his career and his indissoluble bond with motorbikes, amidst track anecdotes, television and a passion for riding
At 76, our Nico Cereghini is still an icon of Italian motorcycling. Journalist, rider and historical face of television, he has been bringing the public stories and secrets of two-wheelers for decades. ‘I'm happy to be here, I've been seeing the EICMA since 1961, and every time it's a wonder,’ says Cereghini, retracing the stages of a career that began with the first “test ride” at the age of 15 on a Ducati 175, experience on the track in the 500, and then success on TV, also thanks to the Grand Prix programme.
His passion, however, was born on the Gilera Giubileo 98, where he experienced the thrill of speed for the first time: ‘The 85 mph back then left a mark, much more than the 300 reached later,’ he confesses.
He says he can do many things well, writing, drawing, playing the harmonica. And, without modesty, he knows how to do one thing really well: ride motorbikes on the road and on the track.
A great storyteller of emotions on two wheels who still inspires motorcyclists of all ages.
