Motorbike racing? It's not for boys... THE INTERVIEW
Young Luana Giuliani tells her story: from the racetrack to the cinema with Penelope Cruz
Luana Giuliani, 14 years old from Rome, rider and actress, tells moto.it how this strange collaboration with director Emanuele Crialese came about. We met her at the last stage of the Civ at Imola, in early October. On the Romagna track Luana raced in Moto3. She has won the Marco Simoncelli trophy twice in her career.
Passionate about motorbikes from a very young age ('we had a bet with daddy'), this young girl with a profound gaze was chosen by Crialese for his latest film 'L'Immensità', presented at the Venice Film Festival and received 12 minutes of applause.
In the film, Luana plays Adriana-Andrea, a little girl who lives with her family in Rome in the 1970s and refuses her identity: she wants to be a boy. It is a sort of autobiographical tale for director Crialese, who saw himself as a child in this little girl...
Luana, with a bright smile and an above-average ability to express herself, talks about her passion for motorbikes but also her nascent passion for cinema, her special relationship with Penelope Cruz and what she intends to do in her future.
