Morgan Lesiardo: Motocross, Enduro, and rebirth with Triumph
Morgan Lesiardo is having his best season ever. In his fourth year of enduro racing, he has achieved excellent results in both the Italian and world championships. But behind these successes lies a story of rebirth that deserves to be told.
“After winning the European Motocross Championship and signing a five-year contract, finding myself out of work after six months was not the best thing in my life,” Morgan confesses. Three years in the Mix 2 world championship without ever finding the right fit: injuries, lack of solid contracts, inability to join an official team. In 2021, a torn ligament in his wrist kept him out of action for seven months. When he returned, his motivation was gone.
“I lacked that stimulus to wake up in the morning and say: today I have to hammer it out. Without motivation, it's impossible to reach the top,” he explains. The decision to switch to enduro came from this, as a “last resort” to rediscover his passion.
The choice of Triumph for his debut seemed risky, but Morgan did not hesitate: “I am proud to have been chosen for this project. I had seen that they had been very strong in motocross in their first year.” The bike proved to be “almost too strong for enduro,” so much so that the team won the Italian championship on its debut.
