Luca Marini: 'Fear on a motorbike? Never experienced it'
The rider of the VR46 team spoke about empathy, fear, boredom, media, duty, fun, family: "I'm a pretty cool person but I'm working on it".
Luca Marini 26 years old, born in Rome, is in his third year in MotoGP and this year has begun to reap the benefits of his growth in the form of podiums and pole positions. A very consistent and analytical rider, he is appreciated by the media for his ability to explain, in a simple way, the complex dynamics behind riding at that level.
He has a future as a talent, as sportsmen are now called who, after their racing career, go on TV to explain their sport to the general public. With Marini we did an interview a little differently, taking advantage of his intelligence: we simply offered him words, leaving him the chance to say what came to him.
At one point, when we asked him if he had any quotes that he used as a guide in life, he replied that no, he does not (nor does he have any tattoos) but that 'I go where...' In Marini's hesitation I completed the sentence by saying 'where your heart takes you' but he added 'and your head'. Very rational and in fact: "I'm quite a cold person but I'm working on it"
