Franco Morbidelli: "My story with Pramac begins as a child, there is a higher plan"
The rider, still with Yamaha for a short time, recounted these very difficult and unexpected two and a half years. How did he cope with them? Where did he find this eastern approach? And what does he expect from his new opportunity on Ducati?
Franco Morbidelli is coming from the most difficult years of his career. For him, the dream of racing in an official team has turned into a nightmare, sportingly speaking. In what sense? In the sense that in the two and a half years that he has been Fabio Quartararo's partner he has seen the Frenchman win the world championship and finish second the following year while he, Franco, has always struggled in the positions that count the least.
Only eight top 10s in the long races, no podiums and, as his best result, fourth place in Argentina.
So we asked Morbidelli if his attitude/approach to this difficult situation, instead of Brazilian as he often emphasises, is more oriental, Japanese, yogic. Do you feel anger or frustration? Morbidelli explained how he coped after that 2020 that saw him second in the world championship, not too far behind Joan Mir.
And that 2020 probably also earned him the call from the Pramac team, to have an official Ducati: a lot of stuff, a beautiful and tempting challenge. Now it's back on, big time.
Franco, as an extremely sensitive person, also made a nice story about one of his special helmets, the one dedicated to the film 'Do the right thing', created at the time when the Black Lives Matter movement was born.
