Fabrizio Azzalin, the DNA of enduro
Fabrizio Azzalin, the DNA of enduro
Today, we can say that a coffee maker contains all the DNA of a supercar. Or vice versa, without shame. It is a way of exaggerating that is typical of our times, often cheating and confusing hazy memories and intentions. Well, if you really want to talk about DNA, let me give you an example: Roberto Azzalin, father, and Fabrizio Azzalin, son.
Roberto is linked to the excellence of an enduring legend: the Paris-Dakar epic, the glory of the amazing original adventures: Le CaGiVa, Hubert Auriol, Alessandro “Ciro” De Petri, Cyril Neveu, Edi Orioli, just to give you, like me, goose bumps. Roberto invented that series of “beasts” with Ducati engines (which at the time gravitated around Schiranna), giving voice to one of the most beautiful stories of that adventure.
Meanwhile, in that undoubtedly exhilarating atmosphere, Fabrizio was hanging around, sticking his nose in, first as a child, then as a teenager, then as a never-adult but significantly big and characterful young man. He must have been a real nuisance, so one day father and son sat down on the oil drums and made a decision. CH Racing would be born in 1993, but then it was 1990 and Fabrizio was launched onto the Enduro planet (probably with a certain kick in the backside). Not to “hang around”, but to lead the team. Fabrizio was just a kid! Character, flair, artistry, yet the young Azazalin got on well right from the start, made his mark and gained recognition, and today, at the head of Team Sherco (a brand he also represents commercially), he has 30 World Championship titles to his name. It's history and current events. In fact, the latest is from this year: Hamish MacDonald, Enduro3 World Champion. Let's hear what this friend, whom we care about deeply, has to say in his “defence”.
