BMW R1300RT: the queen of touring gets a makeover
The top-of-the-range model in the R 1300 family focuses on advanced aerodynamics, maximum comfort and cutting-edge technology. Lighter and more compact than the previous generation
BMW takes the concept of grand touring motorcycles to the top with the R 1300 RT, the flagship of the 1,300 cc boxer family. Compared to the previous generation, the new RT is sleeker and lighter, with a significantly more compact cockpit that improves ergonomics without sacrificing the comfort that has always characterised this model.
Aerodynamics is one of the strengths of the new RT. In addition to the electrically adjustable windscreen and wind tunnel-tested bodywork, BMW has introduced an innovative solution: manually adjustable flaps that allow you to control the airflow over the rider's legs, offering protection or ventilation as required.
Comfort reaches benchmark levels: the seat is both adjustable and heated, as is the passenger seat. Even the rear grab handle is heated, a detail that makes all the difference on winter trips. The chassis features the Telelever EVO with a rigidly fixed upper section, ensuring greater riding precision.
The boxer engine delivers 145 horsepower and 149 Nm of torque, but with the Dynamic Pro riding mode, the RT raises the rear suspension by 30 mm and the front by 10 mm, making riding more dynamic when needed.
The load capacity is remarkable: the trio of panniers can be expanded using hydraulic pistons, while a luggage net, USB sockets and storage compartments complete a package designed for the most demanding grand touring. The R 1300 RT thus represents the pinnacle of the BMW boxer range, combining performance, technology and absolute comfort.
