BMW R1300R: the German boxer becomes a sporty hypernaked bike

BMW

BMW has redesigned its benchmark naked bike, and it has done so decisively. The R 1300 R represents the sporty evolution of the previous 1250R, bringing the famous twin-cylinder boxer engine that also powers the GS family to the road, but with a completely different vocation.

One glance is enough to understand the philosophy behind this bike: taut lines, aggressive geometry and a sleek tail immediately reveal the sporty soul of the project. It is no longer just a versatile naked bike, but a true hypernaked ready to take on the sharpest rivals in the segment.

The numbers speak for themselves: 145 horsepower and 149 Nm of torque guarantee high-level performance. But what really sets the R 1300 R apart is its sophisticated chassis. The DSA (Dynamic Suspension Adjustment) system allows electronic control of both the front fork hydraulics and the rear monoshock, even managing the spring rate of the fork. This racing-derived technology allows the dynamic behaviour of the bike to be adapted to different conditions of use and riding styles.

However, the R 1300 R is not an isolated model: it is part of a larger family that offers the 1,300 cc boxer engine in different configurations, including the even sportier RS sister model. BMW thus demonstrates its desire to dominate every segment of the premium naked bike market with cutting-edge technical solutions.
