In the aftermath of the cancellation of the 2008 Dakar, Jean-Louis Schlesser, René Metge and Hubert Auriol created Africa Eco Race. It is a strong, romantic project that aims to “bring the Rally-Raid back to Dakar”, renewing the myth in its cradle of origin, Africa.

Africa Eco Race is an authentic step back in time in the footsteps of the original Adventure, with an incredible reflection on the atmosphere of the Rally. Along the routes leading to Dakar's Pink Lake beach, competitors rediscover the familiar and invigorating ambience of simple bivouacs, the taste of infinity in the Deserts of Morocco, Mauritania and Senegal, the stimulating drive of navigating through nothingness, of overcoming loneliness and self.

We have accompanied the Adventure of Africa Eco Race 2022, collected and tried to return on 'film' the scents and sensations of the Rally-Raid Pilot through the testimonies of the protagonists, often amateurs and 'challengers' with a different kind of ambition. We rediscovered the excitement of the original Rally-Raid, as wisely interpreted by Jean-Louis Schlesser.
