Xavi Vierge: "We're working on a nice project"

Xavi Vierge: "We're working on a nice project"

Four years with Honda, followed by a move to the factory Yamaha team. Xavi Vierge, speaking to Carlo Baldi for Moto.it, reflects on his World Superbike career, balancing personal satisfaction with results that have fallen short of expectations.

The Spaniard openly discusses Honda's difficulties, explaining that the bike struggled to develop at the same pace as its competitors. His switch to the Yamaha R1 brought immediate confidence, but not the breakthrough he had hoped for. "We can't use the power because we get too much wheelspin," Vierge explains, highlighting just how much the championship's competitive level has increased.

The comparison with Iker Lecuona, his former Honda teammate who is now fighting at the front with Ducati, is inevitable. Vierge acknowledges Lecuona's progress while pointing to the significant technical gap between manufacturers, which makes competing for top positions increasingly difficult.

And what about the future? The Spanish rider hints that changes may be coming. "I miss fighting for the win so much. We are working to get the opportunity to do so," he admits, adding that everything should be decided very soon.

MotoGP remains a dream, but his immediate priority is clear: finding a motorcycle that will finally allow him to demonstrate his full potential in WorldSBK.
