Troll GP: from Migno's lucky charm to Valentino Rossi, how MotoGP becomes a meme
The creator of Troll GP, tells Moto.it how one of MotoGP's most irreverent social media pages was born, sharing viral memes, sensitive riders and unforgettable encounters.
MotoGP is all about speed, rivalries and unforgettable emotions. But it's also full of moments that can become memes, entertaining thousands of fans. Antonio, the creator of Troll GP, knows this better than anyone. Founded in 2017, his social media page now has around 85,000 Instagram followers. We met him during Misano Racing Night for Moto.it's MotoFestival.
It all started almost as a joke, inspired by football meme pages and the idea of bringing the same humorous approach to motorcycle racing. The secret to success? Perfect timing: turning a memorable racing incident into a funny post while everyone is still talking about it.
One of Troll GP's greatest successes was undoubtedly Andrea Migno's famous lucky charm, a mock religious card created in 2021 that went viral when the rider showed it to the cameras after a podium finish at Misano. Its popularity was so unexpected that even Fabio Quartararo wanted one.
Not every rider appreciates being the subject of a joke, however. Antonio reveals that some MotoGP stars have blocked him on social media. His relationship with Valentino Rossi has been quite different: the Italian legend even recognized him during a paddock encounter.
Today, Troll GP is much more than a hobby, and Antonio dreams of turning it into a proper business. Without losing, of course, the irreverent humor that made the page successful in the first place.
