The story of a two-year restoration project to bring the very first model to roll out of the Mandello factory back to its original glory. Just outside Milan lives a family doctor, Massimo Zavaglia, a man with a passion for life and for Moto Guzzi, the legendary brand of the eagle. In the spacious basement of his home, furnished and equipped with vintage tools and memorabilia, a dedicated group of enthusiasts has been working together for years to restore classic motorcycles.

This is the story of how a 1923 Moto Guzzi Normale 500 was brought back to its original condition. A 103-year-old motorcycle reborn in the skilled hands of Renato Canessa, a master technician born in 1927.

There is genuine enthusiasm in the words of everyone interviewed. Because, despite its name, the Normale was a revolutionary motorcycle, exceptionally well engineered and built. Carlo Spotti, the passionate enthusiast who discovered it, confirms this: “It's still an absolute joy to ride.”

The restoration team was determined to preserve every original component, even if that meant spending twice as much time on the project. And the final result is nothing short of extraordinary.
